Mincks

I hope everyone saw the article on the wonderful Mincks family in the T-D today. My only complaint is that this family warrants a book, not just a short little article. It’s been astonishing to watch them all grow up and flourish. I couldn’t believe it when I read that Amanda is 30, particularly since Kim doesn’t look a day older than the first day I ever met her. I’m looking forward to seeing Minckses on stage for years to come.

It was interesting to read about the genesis of “Rumpelstiltskin’s Daughter” this past Sunday. The picture of young Gianna Galiffa peaked my interest as well. My sources say she is a nice local girl, not a hired talent from out of town, which is a little surprising given that she’s playing the title role in such a big production. Could yet another extremely talented local actress be entering the Richmond scene? One need look no further than the cast of “Little Women” at the Mill to see how many of them there are here already. We need more female-centric plays (anything but “Quilters” please…) in production around here to showcase all this talent!

Gigi is fantastic in the show and such a cool chick to know! I'm really excited! I think it's gonna be a blast!!! And an American premiere! Yay!

Thanks for the link to the article Dave. I am understudying one of the very talented women in the show (Maggie Roop) who was also cast in “Doubt” at Barksdale (thus the conflict).

I have had the privilege to watch the process for the past 2 weeks. The show is in really good hands with this cast and Dawn Westbrook as the director. I think (hope) that Mr. Marshall will say that his play has taken another leap forward in its journey.

I will be very interested to hear what you (or Mary) think. It’s always wonderful to have something new produced here.

I'm looking forward to your interview with Gigi on the Theatre IV blog, Billy. And thanks for mentioning Dawn, Jacquie. I've been meaning to add a link to her website for ages. Check it out in the "Show People" section over to the left. I love the little marker icons! ...But the Zelda one doesn't work for some reason :-(

oops. Zelda only doesn't work when you are on Dawn's resume page. Pesky web sites!

Yay, Mincks! I met the family in 2002 when Kim was Mrs. Paroo and my husband was Harold Hill in Fort Lee's Music Man. Adam and I graduated VCU together. They are all wonderful, beautiful people, and I love that they got this article.

And thanks for the shout-out to our cast and all the talented young women working in Richmond! :D

I've met a few Minckses here and there, and worked with Adam on Picasso at the Lapin Agile at VCU. Adam is awesome; he is one of my favorite people in town. He's going to make his Richmond Shakespeare debut in March in As You Like It, and I'm totally jazzed.
