As you may have seen at the Barksdale Blog, their “State of the Theatre” talk has been moved later a week. Mark your calendars!
Also, in the news this morning was the announcement that the Batten family may be putting Landmark Communications up for sale. Landmark owns Style Weekly. I expect there’s no reason to quiver in my boots yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there are some changes coming down the road.
As I tuned into Lettermen and Leno last night to get a glimpse of the world of TV in strike-torn times, I saw a couple of familiar faces. Halfway through Gov. Huckabee’s stint on Leno (gotta say – it’s hard not to like a guy who wants to dismantle the IRS…) there was a Bon Secours hospitals spot that definitely had Jen Meharg and might it have been Joe Pabst as well? This may be an old commercial for all I know but it’s nice to see Jen joining her hubby Scotty Wichmann in getting some commercial work.

Yes, Dave, that is Joe in the Bon Secours spot with Jen Meharg! Still haven't seen it yet but glad it's getting some air time.
Awesome!
I have somehow managed to still not have seen the "Virginia Prepaid education" spot from last month...
Andrew, I see you in that commercial just about every morning! I don't know how you've missed it.
You know, just about the only network television I watch is Redskins games, so it's no surprise I keep missing it. What show have you seen it during?
I've seen Jennie and Joe several times already in the Bon Secours add (MAN, she knits FAST! And Joe - quite the social butterfly for a guy who needs ER services!) I've also seen Andrew and his lovely "wife" Terry Gau umpteen times (along with a quick but very flattering glimpse of Ms. Steinberg looking with shock and awe upon the horror that IS an elementary school production!!!)
Hey, ain't that always the way though? If you do a bit then everyone else sees it but YOU! I did a Fasmart spot last year and all 17 people who saw that thing mentioned it to me, though I never caught it once! Whereas, say, Scotto's American Family ad I've seen at least...oh, I don't know...maybe THIRTY EIGHT TIMES SCOTT???
Anyway...Debra, all the more reason to be proud of Pabst Blue Ribbon! Nice work from both he and Jennie. I love seeing my buds on the tube, it gives me good cause to tune in!
I haven't seen the spot either... echoing Frank's and Andrew's laments. If I were paranoid, I would think they are scheduling the spots when they KNOW we're not watching! (...who said that?!?)
Anyway, I had a BLAST shooting this with Jen! It was supposed to be a simple shot of Jen knitting and me sitting in a variety of uncomfortable positions. But you can hardly put me in a large room and expect me to sit still, now, can you?? The director, Joel Traylor, was great, allowing me to play while still getting the shots he needed.
And Jen was a dream!! She made the long hours so much fun!
Mocking the theatre is one thing. Mocking art-rock God Bowie is nein gutten. Sheisse frau
