I sympathize for those folks who will be putting on "The Tempest" tommorrow night. That's going to be a hot, sweaty performance. Oh, and by the way, my review of "The Tempest" is in this week's Style. It's pretty much exactly the same as what I posted below but still, there's a picture on the Style site, so that's something.
I had lunch today at The Camel on Broad Street, which is on the same block as the Firehouse Theater and just a few block down from Fielden's. I heartily endorse it for any theater person, and anyone else besides. It's a funky space, right below the WRIR studios, the food is good and they make great smoothies. Yum!

Yay Dave! Just when I stop checkin', you make your comeback! So good to have your commentary again.
It's my mission to always keep you guessing!
Great continuing work with the Marquee -- what devotion!
Dave - thanks for the sympathies for those of us in "Tempest"...I'm just thankful that, unlike two years ago when we did "Midsummer Night's Dream", everyone is just playing one role. They say the heat will break on Friday. Either way, you'll be lucky to catch "Odd Couple" in the air conditioned Tavern (sources say the show is coming along nicely). And I'm glad to see your nice review made it pretty much intact to today's "Style"!
Thanks also for the restaurant tip, you know how we're always looking for a cool place to get a bite to eat and a drink after a show, so I'll have to check out Camel. Hmmm...best route there from Agecroft Hall, lemme think...
Dang. Two rainouts in a row for The Tempest, both of them mere seconds before the actors were to step onto the stage. Que suerte!
It's not the heat, it's the humidity. And the precipitation.
Yeah, it sucked BIG TIME last night when we were actually about to go on...I mean, the CURTAIN SPEECH had just wrapped up, and I was hopping around and warming up vigorously as I am wont to do before a big physical scene such as the one which opens "Tempest", when...(BOOM!) Thunder. "We're holding" called the stage manager. Fifteen minutes later it was torrents.
Yeah Dave, good night to be at the Tavern for "Odd Couple". I gave a thought to crashing the opening party, but I wasn't quite dressed for it, so home I went. They're saying CHANCE of afternoon showers today, gradual clearing later. Just to be safe, I'm bringing my poncho this time!
